On the eve of the retreat, this is sure to be a festive occasion. Socialize with Andrea, Margaret, and the retreat team and enjoy an appetizer buffet. Beverages are no-host.
Fee: $15 for all participants, including the general public and WIWA members
The retreat takes place at Coupeville’s Captain Whidbey Inn
Fees are based on the type of room you choose, ranging from a quaint room in the historic inn to a fully appointed cabin overlooking Penn Cove. Your retreat fee includes:
- A 3-day weekend on gorgeous Penn Cove
- Six hours of workshop instruction
- Informal, unstructured hour-long "salons" during which mentors take questions and facilitate discussion around topics of interest to participants.
- Manuscript critique and one-on-one consultation with a mentor
- Free time to write in inspiring surroundings
- Discussion and socializing with potential writing partners
- All meals (local, fresh fare)
- Two nights' accommodations
All participants are required to reside at the Captain Whidbey Inn from Friday, March 14 - Sunday, March 16, 2014. There are no exceptions. Fees don't cover lodging on Thursday, March 13. If you want to stay at the Captain Whidbey Inn on Thursday night, make reservations directly with the Inn by calling 800-366-4097 or online.
Basic Inn Rooms: Upstairs in the historic Inn, creaky floors, loads of ambiance, wash basin in each room, shared toilet and shower.
Deluxe Inn Room #2: All of the above, but a quaint 2-room suite with a corner view of the grounds and Penn Cove. $655 Filled
Deluxe Inn Room #4: All of the basic room features, but a large room with couch and conversation area and a luxurious curtained tester bed.
Lagoon Rooms: Generously sized, individual rooms with view of the grounds and the lagoon; private bath.
Deluxe Lagoon Room #24: Large room with dining table, couch and conversation area, sideboard for refreshments; private bath.
Cabins: Separate, private 2-room cabins with porches facing Pen Cove, private bath.

Nonparticipating guests: Participants paying full fees may bring a guest for an additional fee of $180. Nonparticipating guests are invited to join in all social activities and meals.
Cancellation policy: Cancellations up until February 1, 2014, are subject to a cancellation fee in the amount of 15 percent of the amount paid. Cancellations will not be refunded after February 1, 2014 unless a waiting list is established that will fill the canceled registration.
